Warning: Methylphenidate must be given cautiously to emotionally unstable patients such as those with history of alcohol or medication abuse. Methylin Er Usage: this medication increases mental alertness. It's used in treatment of narcolepsy (problems staying awake). Its also used in treatment of hyperactivity or attention deficit disorder. Additionally It's used for treating depression in senile, post-stroke & cancer patients.
How to use Methylin Er: this drug must be swallowed whole. Chewing or crushing them can destroy long action and may increase side effects. it drug is best taken 30-45 minutes before meals. If loss of appetite or stomach upset occurs. it may be taken with or after a meal or snack. Use this drug exactly as prescribed. do not increase your dose, use it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed because this drug can be habit-forming. Also, if used for long period about time, do not suddenly stop using this without first consulting youre healthcare professional. When used for extended periods, this medication may not work as well & may require different dosing. Consult your healthcare professional if medication is not working well.
Methylin Er side effects: Loss of appetite, blurred vision, dizziness, lightheadedness, dry mouth, headache, stomach upset, sleeplessness, irritability or constipation may occur the first several days as you're body adjusts to drug. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your healthcare professional if you experience: weight loss, chest pain, nervousness, pounding heart, difficulty urinating, mood changes, yellowing eyes and skin. in the unlikely chapter you have an allergic reaction to this pill, seek immediate medical attention. Methylin Er drug interactions: Certain medications taken with it drug could result in serious, even fatal, medication interactions. Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine) within two weeks before or after treatment with it medication. Methylin Er Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dilated pupils, vomiting, nervousness, twitching, tremors, flushing, sweating, severe or persistent headache, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
Methylin Er special notes: don't allow anyone else to take it med.
If you missed Methylin Er dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered & take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced times. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Methylin Er Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
