Genetuss Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination drug is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Genetuss: this drug is best taken with a full glass of water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting meds and capsules whole. do not crush or chew them because the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased. Take it medication as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Genetuss side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform some your doctor. Notify some your healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Genetuss Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any medication allergies. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this pill should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. it medication may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Genetuss drug interactions: Tell some your physician about all prescription & nonprescription meds you use, especially: tablet for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Genetuss Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss about coordination, unusual movements about the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Genetuss special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it med. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Genetuss dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Genetuss Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
