Warning: Use about midazolam can infrequently cause severe breathing problems (e.g., very slow, shallow breaths) which could cause brain damage or be fatal if left untreated. Therefore, it medication must be used only under close medical supervision. Also, this must only be used in hospital or office (medical or dental) which is able to closely monitor some your lung and heart function, and then correctly treat you if you develop any breathing problems.

Midazolam HCL Usage: this drug is used to relax and calm patients (generally children) before certain procedures, or before anesthesia since surgery. it also helps decrease memory about event.
How to use Midazolam HCL: this medication is given by mouth as directed. patient's breathing, heart rate and blood pressure should be monitored in the time about administration, throughout procedure & during the recovery period. dosage is based on patient's medical condition and response to medication. Flumazenil is med that may be used to reverse sedative effect of this med.
Midazolam HCL side effects: Nausea, vomiting, dizziness & drowsiness may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your healthcare professional. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: unusually slow or shallow breathing, unusually slow or quick heartbeat. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these very unlikely but serious side effects: mental/mood changes, fainting, muscle tremor. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.
Midazolam HCL Precautions: Tell you're doctor youre medical history, including: kidney or liver disorders, heart or lung disease, glaucoma (acute narrow-angle), allergies (especially to cherries or drugs). it drug will make you dizzy or drowsy; do not engage in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery until one full day after anesthesia & surgery. Avoid alcoholic beverages. this drug isnt recommended for use in elderly since they may be more sensitive to the effects of drug. Midazolam is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're doctor. this tablet passes in to breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Midazolam HCL drug interactions: Tell youre doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drug you may use, especially of: azole antifungals (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, nelfinavir), calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem, verapamil), cimetidine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin). Also report the use of medications that can drowsiness such as: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety medications, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants, drowsiness-causing anti- histamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). bucks the labels on all you're medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist about safe use about those products. do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless youre healthcare professional instructs you otherwise. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Midazolam HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Midazolam HCL special notes: do not share this med with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests will be performed to monitor youre progress (e.g., breathing and blood pressure). Midazolam must be used as specified on label. it is not for chronic or home use.
