Desmopressin Acetate Usage: this medication acts to decrease urine output. it controls excessive thirst & urination & prevents dehydration. it is used in treatment of diabetes insipidus or in surgery, injury or other conditions where reduced urination is necessary. at children, it drug is used to control bed-wetting.
How to use Desmopressin Acetate: this tablet is used in the nose as nasal spray. the usual dose 1 to 4 sprays per day & depends on your medical condition & response to this drug. Patient instructions provided with the product. Make sure you understand how to use medication properly. Use this medication exactly as prescribed. do not use it more frequently without your doctor's approval. Limit drinking of water or other fluids while taking this drug.
Desmopressin Acetate side effects: this medication may cause headache, runny nose, nausea, stomach ache or flushing of face. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your healthcare professional. Notify youre doctor if you develop: stomach cramps. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Desmopressin Acetate Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart disease, lung disease, nasal congestion, any allergies. Caution is advised when using this medication in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of the drug, especially fluid/sodium imbalances in blood. Tell your doctor if you pregnant before using this medication. it is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Desmopressin Acetate drug interactions: Tell you're pharmacist of every prescription and nonprescription tablets you may use, especially of: carbamazepine, chlorpropamide, demeclocycline, water meds (diuretics), meds that increase blood pressure (e.g., dopamine, epinephrine, ephedrine, levophed). Ask you're healthcare professional how many, if any, alcohol you may drink. Alcohol interferes with the action of desmopressin by increasing urination. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Desmopressin Acetate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Desmopressin Acetate special notes: Laboratory tests may be done to monitor your progress. in addition, amount of fluid you drink may be monitored. do not allow anyone else to use it medication.
If you missed Desmopressin Acetate dose: If you miss a dose & use 1 dose per day: use as soon as remembered unless you do not remember until next day. If that is case, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. If you use more than 1 dose per day: use as soon as remembered unless it is almost clock for next dose; if so, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.
Desmopressin Acetate Storage: Store in the refrigerator. do not freeze. If stored at room temperature, discard after 3 weeks.
