Desmopressin Acetate Usage: it drug is used to treat diabetes insipidus, for surgical procedures, head injury or other conditions requiring fluid control. it is also used to control bleeding in persons with certain types of blood disorders such as Hemophilia or von Willebrand's disease.
How to use Desmopressin Acetate: it is given by injection into vein or just under skin. the dose will be based on you're condition and response. Use it only as directed. do not increase the dose, use this more many times or stop using it medication without first consulting your pharmacist.
Desmopressin Acetate side effects: Headache, flushing & irritation, burning or swelling at injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your physician. Notify your healthcare professional if you experience any about these effects: nausea, stomach cramps, genital-area pain, uncontrolled bleeding, chest pain. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this pill, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.
Desmopressin Acetate Precautions: Tell your pharmacist youre medical history, especially of: high blood pressure, heart disease, fluid or vitamin/mineral (electrolyte) imbalances, any allergies you may have. Tell your pharmacist if you are pregnant before using this drug. It's not known if it drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Desmopressin Acetate drug interactions: Tell your physician about every prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: carbamazepine, chlorpropamide, demeclocycline, 'water pills' (diuretics), drugs that increase blood pressure (e.g., dopamine, epinephrine, ephedrine, norepinephrine), alcohol. Ask your doctor how much, if any, alcohol you may drink. Alcohol interferes with action of desmopressin by increasing urination. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.
Desmopressin Acetate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. it medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Desmopressin Acetate special notes: Laboratory tests may be done to monitor your progress. in addition, the amount of fluid you drink may be monitored.
If you missed Desmopressin Acetate dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near time about the next dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Desmopressin Acetate Storage: Store in refrigerator between 36 & 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C) as directed. Properly discard of used needles. Keep this & all meds out of reach of children.
