Warning: the injectable form of this medication must be used only when the oral form cannot be used. On rare occasions, injectable vitamin K has caused severe allergic reactions, even during 1-st injection. Seek immeditial doctor attention if you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing.
Phytonadione Usage: Vitamin K is fat soluble vitamin which plays an important role in blood clotting. it med is used to prevent & treat hypoprothrombinemia (low blood clot factor levels) caused by vitamin K deficiency.
How to use Phytonadione: this tablet is given by injection by health care professional under skin (SC, SQ), or if no alternative, in to a large muscle (IM) or intravenously (IV), though very serious side effects may occur with the IV or IM route. Follow dosing instructions. don't increase some your dose, take this more often or stop taking this with-out 1-st consulting your doctor.
Phytonadione side effects: this pill is generally well tolerated. You may notice pain, swelling & tenderness in injection site since several days. Notify some your pharmacist if you experience any of the following while taking it drug: chest pain, flushing, strange movements, rapid pulse, tightness of the chest, cramps. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek doctor attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact youre pharmacist or pharmacist.
Phytonadione Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: blood disorders, allergies. a preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in it product or in liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during 1st months about life (neonatal period). the risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts about benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, LBP, or very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the doctor immediately must they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. this medication must be used as directed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Consult your physician about risks & benefits.
Phytonadione drug interactions: Tell your doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription pill you may take, especially of: blood thinners (e.g., heparin, warfarin), aspirin. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Phytonadione Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Phytonadione special notes: Vitamin K is commonly found in leafy green vegetables, meat, milk, egg yolks & tomatoes. Follow any dietary guidelines recommended.
If you missed Phytonadione dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; don't use this if it is near clock for next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Phytonadione Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
Medical alert: your condition may cause complications in medical emergency.
