Habitrol Usage: this medication is used as an aid to stop smoking. this is the majority of the effective when used in conjunction with stop smoking program.
How to use Habitrol: the patch should be applied to clean, dry, non-hairy area on trunk or upper arm. check with manufacturer's patient instruction sheet for specific recommended areas of patch application. If necessary, video hair from site prior to applying patch. Remove patch from package, peel off protective strip and immediately apply it to the site. Press firmly for 10 to 20 seconds to make sure patch stays in place. Be sure edges held firmly to the skin. Wash your hands after applying the patch. Different brands of nicotine patches vary in length of time the patch is left on the skin (e.g., for 24 hours or only while awake). Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist regarding your specific patch and you're condition (including cravings, vivid dreams etc.). Remove the patch carefully and dispose of it properly. Apply each new patch to different area to prevent skin irritation. do not suddenly stop using it medication with out your pharmacists approval. your dose may need to be gradually decreased. You must stop smoking before using the patches & continue not to smoke while using it medication.
Habitrol side effects: this drug may cause headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, stomach upset, nausea or flushing first few days as your body adjusts to medication. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome, inform your pharmacist. If the area around the patch becomes red, itchy or irritated, try new site. If irritation continues or becomes worse, notify your doctor. Notify your pharmacist if you develop: breathing difficulties, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, nervousness, anxiety, tremors. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or doctor.
Habitrol Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart disease, HBP, insulin-dependent diabetes. this drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your physician for details. Nicotine passes into breast milk & has had undesirable effects on nursing infants. Consult some your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Habitrol drug interactions: Inform your physician about every the medicines you use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially about: insulin, beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol), propoxyphene, xanthines (e.g., theophylline). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Habitrol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, remove the patch. Contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, excessive saliva, stomach pain, sweating, headache, dizziness, confusion, weakness, fainting, difficulty breathing, seizures, rapid/weak/ irregular heartbeat, blurred vision, diarrhea, hearing problems.
Habitrol special notes: Keep this and all medications out of reach about children & away from pets. used patch should be discarded by folding it in half with sticky sides facing each other. the used patch should than be placed in opened pouch or aluminum foil and thrown in the garbage. do not allow children access to the discarded patch.
If you missed Habitrol dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if It's almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Habitrol Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture.
