Guaifenesin/antitussive/decongestant/antihistamine - oral
Genelan Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Antitussives are cough suppressants used to relieve dry, hacking cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose & throat & itchy, watery eyes. this combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Genelan: Take this drug as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often then directed. this drug is best taken with a full glass of water after a meal or snack.
Genelan side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur the 1'st few days as youre body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit some your intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact youre healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Genelan Precautions: Tell some your healthcare professional if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), hypertension, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, allergies (especially drug allergies). check this product's ingredient list since phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. it drug must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts of this drug are found in breast milk, consult youre physician before breast-feeding.
Genelan pill interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription med you use, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Genelan Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in amount of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, abnormal tongue or eye movement, slurred speech, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, loss about coordination, slow or shallow breathing, change in amount about urine, unconsciousness, hallucination, sleeplessness, itching, or seizures.
Genelan special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this pill. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Genelan dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if Its near the time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Genelan Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
