Warning: it medication can raise some your body's potassium levels. this is more likely to occur in people with kidney problems, diabetes, in elderly patients, or if patient is severely ill. Potassium levels must be closely monitored in person with any of these problems or illnesses. If not treated, high potassium levels canbe fatal. Triamterene Hctz Usage: this med is a diuretic or 'water pill'. it reduces amount of water & sodium retained by the body. this is used to lower blood pressure and to treat edema (fluid retention).
How to use Triamterene Hctz: Take with food or milk to minimize stomach upset. Take this medication exactly as prescribed. do not skip doses or increase dose without your doctor's approval. Because this medication may increase urination, avoid taking dose late in day.
Triamterene Hctz side effects: this medication can cause dizziness or blurred vision. Use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness. Because this medication changes your fluid balance, you may feel dizzy if you change from a lying to standing position too rapidly. Avoid this by sitting up few minutes before rising. Also avoid drinking alcohol which will aggravate these effects. this drug may cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness and drowsiness first several days as your body adjusts to the drug. this pill increases sensitivity to sun.
