    Palonosetron - injection

    (pal-oh-noe-se-tron)

    common brand names: Aloxi

    Aloxi Usage: it medication is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy. it works by blocking hormone (serotonin) that causes vomiting.

    Aloxi can be used also for: it medication may also be used to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery.

    How to use Aloxi: this medicine is injected into vein (intravenous-IV) as one-time dose 30 minutes before chemotherapy begins. Repeating a dose within 7 days isnt recommended. Consult your physician or pharmacist for more details. Before using, money it product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use liquid.

    Aloxi side effects: Headache, constipation, diarrhea, or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify you're healthcare professional or healthcare professional promptly. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: irregular heartbeat, fainting. serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms about serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Aloxi Precautions: Before using it tablet, tell youre healthcare professional or doctor your medical history, especially of: heart problems (e.g., QTc prolongation, arrhythmias), low mineral levels (electrolyte imbalances such as low potassium or magnesium), any allergies (especially to another serotonin receptor blockers such as ondansetron, dolasetron). this pill may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. it medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're pharmacist. this isn't known whether this drug passes in to breast milk. Breast-feeding isn't recommended while using this drug.

    Aloxi medication interactions: Before using this drug, tell your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription and nonprescription/herbal goods you may use, especially about: anthracylines (e.g., doxorubicin, daunorubicin), 'water pills' (diuretics). another drugs besides palonosetron which may affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation in EKG) include dofetilide, pimozide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol, & sparfloxacin among others. QTc prolongation can infrequently result in serious, rarely death, irregular heartbeats. Consult your physician or pharmacist since details. Ask since instructions about whether you need to stop any other QTc-prolonging drugs you may be using in order to minimize the risk of this effect. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or healthcare professional approval.

    Aloxi Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Aloxi special notes: do not share this pill with others.

    If you missed Aloxi dose: Try to take this medicine in scheduled time. If you miss dose, contact your healthcare professional to establish a new dosing schedule.

    Aloxi Storage: Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. don't freeze. Brief storage between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. do not store in bathroom. Keep every medicines away from children & pets.
