Donatussin Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and throat & itchy, watery eyes. it combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Donatussin: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. this med is best taken with full glass about water after meal or snack.
Donatussin side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur the 1st some days as your body adjusts to the drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your physician. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or physician.
Donatussin Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, allergies (especially tablet allergies). cash this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult youre healthcare professional promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. since small amounts of this medication are found at breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Donatussin drug interactions: Tell some your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, tranquilizers, sleeping meds, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain medications (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this med. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Donatussin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in amount of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, unconsciousness, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, drowsiness, abnormal tongue movement, slurred speech, or seizures.
Donatussin special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Donatussin dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Donatussin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
