Ultiva Usage: Remifentanil is a pain drug used before and/or during surgery or other procedures requiring anesthesia. this medication may also be used for pain control after surgery under close supervision of physician or another medical (pain) specialist.
How to use Ultiva: this medication is injected into a vein (slow IV injection or continuous infusion) by medical professionals specifically trained in use of anesthetic drugs. Remifentanil should be used only in a hospital or clinical setting equipped with appropriate monitoring & life-support equipment. dosage is based on patient's medical condition and response to medication. this product contains glycine & is not intended for epidural or intrathecal injection. Use this drug exactly as prescribed. do not increase your dose, use it more frequently, or use this for longer period of time then prescribed because this drug canbe habit-forming. Also, if used for an extended period of time, do not suddenly stop using this drug without your doctor's approval. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, don't use the liquid. Learn how to store & discard needles & medical supplies safely. Consult you're physician. Ultiva side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, shivering, or headache may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, contact you're healthcare professional or pharmacist promptly. Tell some your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: slow or irregular heartbeat, fever, muscle or chest tightness, trouble breathing, seizures. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Ultiva Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: head injury, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies you may have (especially to codeine or fentanyl). this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery until the dizziness or drowsiness caused by the anesthesia or this pill is no longer present. Avoid alcoholic beverages because they can intensify dizziness or drowsiness effects of this medication. Caution is advised when using this medication in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of medication. Caution is advised when using this drug in patients who are very overweight. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your physician. it isn't known if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Ultiva drug interactions: Tell your doctor or physician of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: MAO inhibitors used currently or stopped within the last two weeks (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline). Tell youre doctor if you take any drowsiness-causing med, such as: drugs for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines or tricyclics), anti- seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). money the labels on all youre medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those products. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Ultiva Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include trouble breathing, seizures, severe dizziness, or quick heartbeat.
Ultiva special notes: do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., breathing, blood pressure, heart) will be performed to monitor your progress.
If you missed Ultiva dose: Not applicable.
Ultiva Storage: Store the vials between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 & 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. do not freeze. After mixing & dilution in correct IV fluids (consult youre pharmacist since details), med is stable at room temperature for 4 hours. Discard any unused liquid.
