Phillips' Milk of Magnesia Usage: this medication is used to treat occasional episodes about constipation. it acts to produce bowel movement within 6 hours of taking dose. this med is also used for upset stomach caused by heartburn, acid indigestion or sour stomach; for peptic ulcer, hiatal hernia or other conditions caused by excess stomach acid; & to prevent ulcers or bleeding from ulcers.

How to use Phillips' Milk of Magnesia: Take this med as prescribed. Use only temporarily to relieve constipation. When regularity returns, stop using the drug. Prolonged or continued use may result in laxative dependence. To be effective, chewable meds must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing followed by full glass of water. Shake liquid forms well before pouring each dose. don't take any another drug within 1 to 2 hours of taking this medication. since magnesium hydroxide coats the stomach, this can prevent other drugs from being absorbed properly if taken at same time.

Phillips' Milk about Magnesia side effects: this med may cause diarrhea. If diarrhea persists or worsens, inform some your healthcare professional. Notify your pharmacist if next effects occur: black/tarry stools or rectal bleeding. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Phillips' Milk of Magnesia Precautions: do not take magnesium hydroxide before consulting your physician if you have the next conditions: kidney disease, stomach/abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting. do not give this pill to a child under 6 years of age without 1'st consulting doctor. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this medication. it isn't known if magnesium hydroxide is excreted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Phillips' Milk of Magnesia tablet interactions: Tell your healthcare professional about all prescription & nonprescription meds you may use, especially of: antibiotics, quinidine, sodium polystyrene sulfonate. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.

Phillips' Milk about Magnesia Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Phillips' Milk about Magnesia special notes: Refrigerating the liquid may improve taste. (Do not freeze). the liquid form works faster and is more effective than the other forms. However, chewable tablets may be more convenient.

If you missed Phillips' Milk of Magnesia dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

Phillips' Milk of Magnesia Storage: Store capsule and tablet forms at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. don't store in the bathroom. do not freeze liquid forms of this med.
