    Antibacterials - ophthalmic, otic

    Simular Drugs : Sulfac, Sulfacet R, Sulfacetamide Sodium, Sulfacetamide W Prednisolone

    Sulfacetamide Sodium Usage: it medication is used to treat infections of eye (ophthalmic) or ear (otic).

    How to use Sulfacetamide Sodium: Use this as prescribed. Continue using it for full time prescribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a reinfection. To apply eye or ear medication, wash hands 1'st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch dropper or tube or let it touch affected area. Shake drops well before using. Hold ointment tube in you're hand for several minutes to make pill flow easier. EYE med: Tilt your head back, gaze upward & pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. for drops, place dropper directly over eye & administer prescribed number of drops. see downward & gently close youre eye since 1 to 2 minutes. With eye ointment, place med inside the lower lid using sweeping motion. Close eye & roll eyeball. Remove excess ointment with tissue. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. If you using another kind of eye pill, wait five to ten minutes before applying. EAR pill: Lie on your side or turn the affected ear upward to make application easier. Place prescribed number of drops in ear. Avoid touching the ear canal. Keep ear tilted for one to two minutes. a small piece about clean cotton may be placed in the ear to prevent drops from escaping.

    Sulfacetamide Sodium side effects: this medication may temporarily sting when 1st applied. If it effect persists or worsens, inform your healthcare professional promptly. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, redness, swelling or discharge (including eye or ear area), trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Sulfacetamide Sodium Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially: every previous eye or ear problems, if you use contact lenses, any allergies. Vision may be temporarily blurred after applying eye medication. Use caution driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. this & all medications should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy or when breast-feeding. Consult with your physician if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

    Sulfacetamide Sodium drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of every medications you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially about: silver preparations, all other eye or ear antibiotic or corticosteroid (e.g., hydrocortisone) medications. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Sulfacetamide Sodium Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

    Sulfacetamide Sodium special notes: Throw away any unused part of you're prescription. don't save it to use for another infection. do not allow anyone else to use this pill. the infection may spread to another person if you accidentally contaminate the drug.

    If you missed Sulfacetamide Sodium dose: If you miss dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use if this is almost time since next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Sulfacetamide Sodium Storage: Depending upon manufacturer, product may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated. Ask you're physician. don't store in bathroom. do not freeze.
