    Magnesium salicylate - oral

    (mag-nee-zee-um sal-iss-uh-late)

    common brand names: Doan's, Momentum

    Magan Usage: this pill is an anti-inflammatory agent used to relieve pain, reduce swelling (inflammation) about arthritis and reduce fever.

    How to use Magan: Take this medication by mouth with food or full glass about milk or water (8oz. or 240 ml) as directed by your doctor. the dosage is based on you're medical condition & response to therapy. If you taking it med for pain or fever & there is no improvement within 5 days, stop taking this medication & consult your pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Magan side effects: Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, & headache may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your physician immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, ringing in ears, changes in your hearing. If you notice any about next unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this drug & consult your physician or pharmacist immediately: bloody or black stools, coffee-ground vomit, persistent stomach/abdominal pain. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely but seek immediate healthcare attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice any other side effects not listed above, contact you're physician or pharmacist.

    Magan Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional some your medical history, especially about: kidney or liver disease, stomach/intestinal ulcers, any allergies (especially to aspirin). this medication can cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol & it drug may increase youre risk for stomach bleeding. Caution is advised when using this med in elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of drug. kid & teenagers should not take this medication if they have chicken pox, influenza, or any undiagnosed illness without 1st consulting physician about Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. it medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. Magnesium salicylate is excreted at to breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Magan tablet interactions: Tell some your physician about all prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, enalapril), acetazolamide, oral diabetic medicine (e.g., chlorpropamide, glyburide, tolbutamide), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), methotrexate, anti-seizure med (e.g., phenytoin, valproic acid), tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline). check labels on every youre medicines because they may contain aspirin or aspirin-like NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen). Ask your healthcare professional about the safe use of these products. it pill may interfere with certain laboratory tests. Inform laboratory personnel that you taking this med. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Magan Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, severe vomiting, change in amount of urine, rapid & shallow breathing.

    Magan special notes: do not share this drug with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor for side effects or response to treatment. If you have diabetes, this tablet may affect your blood sugar and may cause false test results with few urine glucose tests (e.g., Clinistix, Clinitest). check with youre doctor before adjusting dose of your diabetes medicine.

    If you missed Magan dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near clock of the next dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

    Magan Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
