Robitussin DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. this combination medication is used to treat cough associated with common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Robitussin DM: Take this tablet as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting meds must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased.
Robitussin DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur first some days as your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your pharmacist if you develop any of these effects while taking this tablet: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or physician.
Robitussin DM Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially about: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this med should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. since small amounts about this medication found at breast milk, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Robitussin DM pill interactions: Tell some your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Robitussin DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Robitussin DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. this will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Robitussin DM dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take it if It's near clock for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Robitussin DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store at bathroom.
