    Aluminum w/magnesium hydroxide - oral

    (uh-lew-mih-num with mag-nee-zee-um hi-drox-ide)

common brand names: Di-Gel, Gaviscon, Gelusil, Maalox, Mylanta, Wingel

Simular Drugs : Rulox, Rulox No 1

Rulox No 1 Usage: this is an antacid that works at the stomach to neutralize & reduce acid. Antacids are used to treat an upset stomach caused by heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach; to treat peptic ulcer, hiatal hernia or other conditions caused by an excess of stomach acid; & to prevent ulcers or bleeding from ulcers.

How to use Rulox No 1: Take this medication as prescribed. Taking too much of an antacid can reverse the effects & more acid will be secreted. at certain conditions, however, it may be necessary to take antacid as frequently as all 1 to 2 hours. To be effective, chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing followed by full glass of water. Shake liquid forms well before pouring each dose. do not take any other drug within 1 to two hours of taking an antacid. since antacids coat the stomach, they can prevent other medications from being absorbed properly if taken at the same time.

Rulox No 1 side effects: this medication can cause nausea, loss of appetite, constipation or diarrhea, weakness, or headache. If these symptoms persist or become severe, notify your healthcare professional. Notify your doctor if you notice black, tarry stools while taking this med. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or healthcare professional.

Rulox No 1 Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems.

Rulox No 1 drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of every prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: tetracycline, ferrous sulfate (iron), drugs used for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, indomethacin), digoxin, isoniazid, pseudoephedrine, diazepam, methenamine, ketoconazole. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

Rulox No 1 Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, fatigue, weakness, severe nausea & vomiting, loss of appetite, drowsiness, slow or shallow breathing, or loss of consciousness.

Rulox No 1 special notes: Refrigerating the liquid antacids may improve taste. do not freeze. If you dislike taste of one antacid, talk to your doctor or physician about switching to similar product. liquid antacid forms work faster and more effective than other forms. However, chewable tablets may be more convenient.

If you missed Rulox No 1 dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if this is almost clock for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Rulox No 1 Storage: Store tablets, capsules & powdered forms at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in the bathroom. do not freeze liquid forms of this drug.
