Neumega Usage: this drug is used to prevent low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) & to reduce need for blood transfusions next cancer treatments.
How to use Neumega: Use exactly as directed by injection under the skin (SQ or SC) of abdomen, thigh or hip one time daily for 10 to 21 days, beginning after chemotherapy. Doses & duration of treatment are adjusted based on your condition. Learn every the preparation & administration instructions in product package & ask your healthcare professional or physician if you unclear on any information. do not shake vial. don't use if the mixture is cloudy or colored. puncture resistant container should be used for disposal of used needles & syringes.
Neumega side effects: Weakness, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, arm or leg swelling may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist promptly. Report promptly: chest pain, rapid or irregular heart beats, fainting, muscle/bone pain, nervousness or difficulty sleeping, mouth sores, eye pain, vision changes, bruising or bleeding. Unlikely but report promptly: persistent sore throat/cough/ fever. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek healthcare attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, facial swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or healthcare professional.
Neumega Precautions: Before using this medication, tell your pharmacist some your entire medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), heart diseases, severe water retention, HBP, eye disease (e.g., papilledema), brain tumors. Limit alcohol intake as it may enhance certain side effects about this drug. since this med may cause dizziness or fatigue, use extreme caution if operating machinery or performing hazardous tasks (e.g., driving). Use in children, especially those less than 12 years of age, is not recommended (except at approved clinical studies). Serious eye problems (papilledema) may occur more often in children. Caution is advised when this product is used at elderly. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with you're doctor. Its not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because about potential risk to infant, breast-feeding while using it drug isnot recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Neumega medication interactions: Tell youre doctor of every nonprescription & prescription medication you use, especially of: diuretics ('water pills' such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide), other blood pressure control meds, certain chemotherapy agents (e.g., doxorubicin, ifosfamide). Certain laboratory values may decrease during treatment with this drug (e.g., hemoglobin, hematocrit, RBC, albumin, calcium). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Neumega Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Neumega special notes: do not share this medication with others. Laboratory tests may be taken to monitor drug effectiveness & side effects.
If you missed Neumega dose: Each dose should be used at about the same time each day. If you miss dose, use this as soon as you remember. If this is near time of following dose, skip missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Neumega Storage: Store in a refrigerator between 36 & 46 degrees F (2- 8 degrees C) away from light & moisture. do not freeze or shake. Diluted drug must be used within 3 hours of mixing & can be stored in vial either at 36-46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C) or at room temperature up to 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Discard any unused portion of vial.
