Quinidine Sulfate Usage: this tablet is used to treat irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and maintain normal heart rate.
How to use Quinidine Sulfate: this is best taken on an empty stomach with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water, unless your pharmacist directs you otherwise. this medication may be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs. do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. Sustained-release meds must be swallowed whole. do not crush or chew them. it medication works best when theyre is constant level of the drug in your body. To do it, take each dose exactly as prescribed at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night. Try to take each dose at same time each day. do not stop taking it medication with out consulting your doctor. some conditions may become worse when the medication is suddenly stopped.
Quinidine Sulfate side effects: Diarrhea, loss of appetite, bitter taste in mouth, dizziness, headache, ringing in the ears, blurred vision or stomach upset may occur. If these symptoms persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist promptly. Tell some your doctor immediately if following effects occur: confusion, simple bruising or bleeding, fever, joint aches. Tell youre physician immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: fainting, irregular heartbeat. in the unlikely episode you have an allergic reaction to this tablet, seek immediate medical attention. Quinidine Sulfate Precautions: Tell some your healthcare professional your medical history, especially about: kidney or liver problems, every heart related problems (QT prolongation), muscle problems (myasthenia gravis), any allergies. Quinidine should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. Quinidine is excreted into breast milk. Though their have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Quinidine Sulfate medication interactions: Inform your physician of all the drug you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially of: other heart medicine, pimozide, ritonavir, mefloquin, warfarin, codeine, succinylcholine, blood pressure medicine, rifamycins, antacids, phenytoin, digoxin, cimetidine, ranitidine, verapamil, diltiazem. Report other pills which affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as: dofetilide, pimozide, sotalol, procainamide, sparfloxacin, 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Ask you're physician or pharmacist for more details. don't eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless youre doctor instructs you otherwise. Sudden changes in amount of salt you use may affect the levels about quinidine in your body. Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist. do not start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Quinidine Sulfate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose include trouble breathing, trouble walking, vomiting, diarrhea, ringing in the ears, headache, dizziness, disturbed vision, & nausea.
Quinidine Sulfate special notes: there are different brands of it pill available. Not all products identical. do not change brands without consulting your doctor or pharmacist. your pharmacist may want you to money your pulse rate every day while you take this drug. Learn how to monitor your pulse. To evaluate the effectiveness of this drug, some your healthcare professional may periodically take blood sample to measure the amount of tablet in your body.
If you missed Quinidine Sulfate dose: If you miss dose & remember within 2 hours, take this as soon as remembered. If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Quinidine Sulfate Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture. do not store in the bathroom.
