Corticosteroids - topical
Betanate Usage: this medication is used to treat swelling, inflammation, or itching of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, rashes, insect bites, poison ivy, allergies and other irritations.
How to use Betanate: Clean & dry affected region before applying the med. To apply, gently massage very small amount bit of medication into affected region & surrounding skin. do not bandage, wrap or cover area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your healthcare professional. do not use plastic pants or tight fitting diapers on child being treated with this medication in diaper region. Avoid using this medication around the eyes unless directed to do so by your doctor.
Betanate side effects: it medication may cause burning, stinging, itching, or redness when 1-st applied to skin. this should disappear in a some days as your body adjusts to the drug. this medication may also cause skin thinning and discoloration. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform youre doctor. Skin infections can become worse when using this medication. Notify your pharmacist if redness, swelling or irritation does not improve. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Betanate Precautions: don't use this med near the eyes if you have glaucoma. Treatment with clobetasol, halobetasol propionate & augmented betamethasone dipropionate beyond two weeks consecutively is not recommended. do not use if their is an infection or sores present on area to be treated. Though very unlikely, it is possible it drug will be absorbed into your bloodstream. this may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. it is especially true for kid & for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. this precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug. Consult your doctor or physician for more details. it medication should be used cautiously during pregnancy and only if clearly needed. Discuss the benefits and risks with your doctor. Small amounts of this drug may appear in breast milk. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding.
Betanate med interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of all drugs you may use, (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: prednisone (or similar drugs), other skin medicines. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Betanate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Betanate special notes: Inform all youre pharmacists you use (or have used) it drug. do not share this drug with others.
If you missed Betanate dose: If you miss dose, use this as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Betanate Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight. Avoid freezing.
Medical alert: your condition can cause complications at medical emergency.
