Guiatuss DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. this combination medication is used to treat cough associated with common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Guiatuss DM: Take this tablet as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often then directed. Capsules and long-acting meds must be swallowed whole with full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased.
Guiatuss DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur 1-st some days as your body adjusts to the drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're doctor. Notify you're doctor if you develop any of these effects while taking this pill: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if it medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or physician.
Guiatuss DM Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially about: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your pharmacist. for small amounts of it drug found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Guiatuss DM medication interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or doctor approval.
Guiatuss DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Guiatuss DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Guiatuss DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near the time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Guiatuss DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
