    Guaifenesin with dextromethorphan - oral

    (gweye-fen-eh-sin with dex-trow-meth-or-fan)

    common brand names: Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM

    Dm Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. it combination pill is used to treat cough associated with common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use Dm: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with full glass about water. do not crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed & chance of side effects will be increased.

    Dm side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss about appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur first some days as your body adjusts to med. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your physician. Notify your pharmacist if you develop any about these effects while taking it tablet: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Dm Precautions: Tell you're healthcare professional your medical history, especially about: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're healthcare professional. since small amounts of this drug are found in breast milk, consult some your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Dm pill interactions: Tell you're healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

    Dm Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.

    Dm special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

    If you missed Dm dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if Its near the time since the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Dm Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in bathroom.
