Cephalexin Usage: this med is a cephalosporin antibiotic & is used to treat wide variety of bacterial infections.
How to use Cephalexin: the liquid suspension form of this drug should be shaken well before using. Antibiotics work best when amount about medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do this by taking the drug at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night. Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a several days. Stopping the med too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in relapse about the infection.
Cephalexin side effects: it drug may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting. Take with food or milk to minimize these effects. If they persist or become severe, inform your doctor promptly. Unlikely to occur but report promptly: fever, easy bleeding or bruising, a change in amount about urine, seizures. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or physician.
Cephalexin Precautions: Before taking this medication, tell your physician if you have: allergies (including penicillins, cephalosporins, or any other drug), kidney disease. Use of this drug for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Caution is advised when using it medication in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. it is not known if this medication is found in breast milk; consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Cephalexin medication interactions: Tell your pharmacist of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: medications used for gout such as probenecid. it drug may interfere with effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. this tablet may cause false positive results in tests for sugar in urine. Diabetics should use Clinistix rather than Clinitest tablets. Blood sugar testing isnt affected. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Cephalexin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain.
Cephalexin special notes: this tablet has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use this later for another infection or give it to someone else. different drug may be necessary.
If you missed Cephalexin dose: If you should miss dose, take it as soon as remembered unless Its almost time for following dose. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose.
Cephalexin Storage: Follow label warnings about whether or not to refrigerate. do not freeze. don't store in bathroom. Discard any unused portion after 14 days because the med loses potency.
