    Methenamine - oral

    (meth-en-uh-meen)

    common brand names: Hiprex, Mandelamine, Urex

    Simular Drugs : Mandelamine, Mandelamine Hafgrams

    Mandelamine Usage: it med is an antibiotic used to treat infection of urinary tract (kidney, bladder).

    How to use Mandelamine: Take this drug exactly as prescribed. Take with food to prevent stomach upset. Drink plenty of fluids while taking it med. Cranberry juice or taking vitamin C supplements may be recommended since they acidify urine & make drug more effective. large amounts of milk products or antacids should be avoided. Shake liquid form of it drug well before pouring each dose. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Do this by taking med at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day & night. Continue to take it pill until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after few days. Stopping medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow & may result in a relapse about infection.

    Mandelamine side effects: this medication may cause stomach upset, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, or headache. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your physician if you develop: skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, painful urination, blood in the urine, mouth sores. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or pharmacist.

    Mandelamine Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially: kidney or liver disease, any allergies. Methenamine should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your pharmacist. Methenamine is excreted into breast milk. Though their have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.

    Mandelamine drug interactions: Tell your physician of every prescription & nonprescription medications you use, especially: sulfamethizole, antacids (e.g., bicarbonate), other urine alkalinizers (e.g., acetazolamide). do not start or stop any medicine with-out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.

    Mandelamine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Mandelamine special notes: this pill has been prescribed for some your current condition only. do not use it later for other infection or give it to someone else. a different drug may be needed at those cases.

    If you missed Mandelamine dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered. If, however, It's almost time for next dose and dose is 2 daily, take missed dose & following dose 5 to 6 hours apart. If the dose is 3 daily, take the missed dose & the next dose 2 to 4 hours apart. then resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

    Mandelamine Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture & sunlight. don't freeze liquid forms of it pill. do not store in bathroom.
