Cephalexin Usage: it medication is an antibiotic that is used to treat a variety about bacterial infections.
How to use Cephalexin: Antibiotics work best when amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do this by taking drug in evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night. this medication works best when taken on an empty stomach. However, if stomach upset occurs, it may be taken with food. Continue to take it drug until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of infection.
Cephalexin side effects: it medication may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, & vomiting. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your pharmacist promptly. Unlikely to occur but report promptly: fever, easy bleeding or bruising, change at the amount of urine, seizures. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.
Cephalexin Precautions: Before taking this drug, tell your healthcare professional if you are allergic to any meds, especially: penicillins, cephalosporins. Inform you're physician of any medical conditions, especially of: kidney disease. Use of it medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Caution is advised when using this pill in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of the medication. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using it drug. it drug is excreted in to breast milk. Though no problems have been noted, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Cephalexin drug interactions: Tell you're physician about every prescription & nonprescription tablets you may use, especially about: medication for gout (e.g., probenecid). it tablet may interfere with effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Cephalosporins can cause false positive results in tests for sugar in the urine. Diabetics must use Clinistix rather than Clinitest tablets. Blood sugar testing isnot affected. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Cephalexin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain.
Cephalexin special notes: this medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. don't use this later for another infection or give it to someone else. different drug may be necessary.
If you missed Cephalexin dose: If you should miss dose, take this as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for next dose. If this is nearly time for the following dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose.
Cephalexin Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
